Friday was the final day of the competition, and we had to get up early (what else is even new). We had to arrive at the school at 7:10, I believe. The night before we had decided to get up earlier and head to the Starbucks which was like one minute away. After that adventure we ate breakfast and headed to the school. First up for Keara and I was some color thing. I was basically sleeping and it was completely boring and I had no idea what was going on, so remembering that is nonexistent.
After the color thing, we went to the plate making section which was basically them giving us a test and then a list of directions. (we rocked that)

Next was the press run. This was definitely the part we were most stressed about. We had an hour and a half to set up the press, mount plates, print a sellable product and clean up. I was in charge of mounting the plates while Keara got the press ready to print. We then got the plates in register and all the other things necessary to do which would bore you to death. We made it in time but went a tiny but over with cleanup. Overall it felt very successful to us, and the judges were super nice and we felt like we really showed them that we knew what we were doing.

Next we had lunch, and then back for prepress. This section was totally boring and time consuming (and difficult). After that we had downtime until dinner. We mostly spent it outside waiting for the last section to be over. Dinner came and went and I know for myself I was way more nervous for the results than for any of the sections.

After what seemed like ages of waiting, we headed to the room where the closing ceremonies would be (and we weren't late this time). After many speeches and thank-yous the results were announced. Keara and I were named first place winners and Nate and Joe were named second. It was so shocking and exciting and mind blowing and wow. We couldn't begin to process what had just happened. After having our pictures taken and thanking all sorts of people (and trying to process everything), we went outside and had another mini photoshoot (totally me, but yeah of course I wanted some pictures okay?).

We headed back to the hotel and after half an hour headed out to downtown Charlotte. (also kind of getting lost. again.) This was so so so much fun, and I wouldn't trade those few hours spent exploring and taking photos for anything. It was such a beautiful night, there was a game going on in the Hornets stadium, and the city was abuzz with activity. Such fun!
After we stopped at CVS, we headed back to the hotel where we talked about the day and many other things, shared jokes, watched basketball, inhaled helium, edited photographs (yeah, that was just me), and just totally chilled and tried to process what had happened that whole day.
