the truth isn't always clean

by Lauren Dahlhauser by Lauren Dahlhauser by Lauren Dahlhauser

it's 2:58am.
here in front of me,
a blank page.

i have words, so
many
turning around, and around, and
around, in my head, trying
to make their way to a page but
not forming their way into sentences on
the way out.

a mish-mash of
unintelligible. why, you
ask?
because sometimes, words aren't
enough.
sometimes all you can do is
feel
the words, as they tumble
around like a washing machine
inside your head
and when they're ready, they
will come
they may not be clean
but that's okay because
the truth isn't always
clean.
